Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tuna steaks (about 6 oz each)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, sesame oil, soy sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper.
  3. Brush the tuna steaks evenly with the oil mixture.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Sear the tuna steaks for 1-2 minutes per side for rare, or longer for more well-done, until a crust forms.
  6. Remove from skillet and let rest for a minute before slicing.
  7. Garnish with sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

  • For best results, use sushi-grade tuna.
  • Do not overcook tuna; it should be pink in the center.
  • Serve with your favorite sides like rice or a salad.
