Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound salmon fillets, skin removed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon chipotle powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 small corn or flour tortillas
  • For the Zesty Avocado Slaw:
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage mix
  • 1 ripe avocado, diced
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • For Serving:
  • Lime wedges

Instructions

  1. Prepare the salmon seasoning: In a small bowl, mix the honey, chipotle powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Brush the honey chipotle mixture evenly over the top of the salmon.
  3. Cook the salmon: You can pan-sear or bake. For pan-searing, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook salmon for 4-5 minutes per side until cooked through and flaky.
  4. While the salmon cooks, prepare the slaw: In a medium bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, diced avocado, cilantro, lime juice, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Toss gently to coat.
  5. Warm the tortillas according to package directions, usually by heating them briefly in a dry skillet or microwave.
  6. Flake the cooked salmon into bite-sized pieces using a fork.
  7. Assemble the salmon tacos: Place a portion of flaked salmon onto each warm tortilla. Top generously with the zesty avocado slaw.
  8. Serve immediately with fresh lime wedges on the side.

Notes

  • For an air fryer salmon tacos version, cook the seasoned salmon at 400°F (200°C) for 10-12 minutes, depending on thickness.
  • If you prefer a creamier sauce, mix 1/4 cup sour cream with 1 tablespoon lime juice and a pinch of salt to drizzle over the finished tacos.
  • This recipe makes for a great healthy salmon dinner option.
