Make crispy, cheesy English muffin pizzas fast. This recipe shows you how to prepare the classic version, a breakfast variation, and an air fryer method for a quick meal or snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 English muffins, split
  • 1 cup pizza sauce or marinara sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • Optional toppings: Sliced pepperoni, cooked sausage, sliced mushrooms, bell peppers

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). If using the air fryer, preheat it to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Place the English muffin halves, cut-side up, on a baking sheet or directly in the air fryer basket.
  3. For the Classic Version: Spread about 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce evenly over each muffin half. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning. Top with mozzarella cheese and your chosen toppings.
  4. For the Breakfast Version: Skip the pizza sauce. Spread a thin layer of butter or cream cheese on the muffin. Top with a pre-cooked egg patty or scrambled egg, a sprinkle of cheese, and optional cooked breakfast sausage.
  5. For the Air Fryer Version: Assemble the pizzas using the Classic Version toppings. Work in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the basket.
  6. Bake in the oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges of the muffins are lightly browned.
  7. If using the air fryer, cook for 4 to 6 minutes, checking frequently, until the cheese is melted and the edges are crisp.
  8. Remove from the oven or air fryer. Let cool slightly before serving immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crispy edges, lightly toast the English muffin halves in the toaster or oven for 2 minutes before adding toppings.
  • You can prepare these mini pizzas ahead of time. Assemble them completely, place them on a baking sheet, and freeze them before the cheese melts. Bake directly from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to the cook time.
  • This is a great recipe for using up leftover cooked meats or vegetables.
