Make this simple, no-cook olive oil bread dip in just five minutes. It features garlic, Italian herbs, and a balsamic swirl, making it the best dipping oil for crusty bread like baguettes or focaccia.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced very fine
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning blend
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar (for drizzling)
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Measure the extra virgin olive oil into a shallow serving dish or small bowl.
  2. Add the minced garlic, Italian seasoning, dried oregano, black pepper, and salt directly into the olive oil.
  3. Stir all the ingredients together well to combine the flavors.
  4. Let the mixture sit for at least 5 minutes to allow the garlic and herbs to infuse the oil. This step is key for the best dipping oil flavor.
  5. If using, sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the top.
  6. Just before serving with warm, crusty bread, drizzle the balsamic vinegar over the center of the oil mixture.

Notes

  • For a stronger garlic flavor, you can lightly crush the garlic cloves instead of mincing them finely.
  • Use high-quality extra virgin olive oil; since this is a no-cook recipe, the oil’s flavor is central.
  • This recipe makes an excellent vegan bread dip if you omit the optional Parmesan cheese.
  • Serve this as a quick appetizer idea for bread or as a Mediterranean olive oil dip starter.
