- 12 ounces pasta
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Cook pasta according to package directions. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining.
- While pasta cooks, melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Do not brown.
- Pour in heavy cream and bring to a simmer.
- Stir in Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. Cook until cheese is melted and sauce is smooth.
- Add drained pasta to the skillet with the sauce.
- Toss to coat. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a tablespoon at a time until desired consistency is reached.
- Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley.
Notes
- For added protein, you can add cooked chicken or sautéed mushrooms to the sauce.
