Ingredients
Scale
12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
Instructions
Place the chocolate chips in a medium, heat-safe bowl.
In a small saucepan over medium heat, warm the heavy cream until it just begins to simmer around the edges. Do not let it boil.
Pour the hot cream over the chocolate chips. Let it sit undisturbed for 5 minutes to allow the chocolate to melt.
Add the butter and vanilla extract to the bowl. Add the pinch of salt to balance the sweetness.
Whisk the mixture gently, starting from the center and working outward, until the sauce is completely smooth and glossy. This creates your rich, velvety fondue sauce.
Transfer the fondue to a small pot or fondue warmer to keep warm. If using a slow cooker, melt the chocolate and cream together on low, stirring occasionally, until smooth.
Serve immediately with your favorite dipping items.
Notes
For a Melting Pot copycat flavor, add 1 teaspoon of creamy peanut butter when you add the butter.
Use high-quality chocolate for the best results; chocolate bars chopped finely work better than some chips.
Keep the heat low when serving in a fondue pot to prevent scorching.
Great dipping ideas include fresh strawberries, banana slices, pound cake cubes, pretzels, and marshmallows.
