A shiny, smooth glaze perfect for old-fashioned buttermilk donut bars, providing a bakery-style finish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth and lump-free.
  2. The glaze should be thick enough to coat the back of a spoon but still pourable. If it’s too thick, add milk a teaspoon at a time. If it’s too thin, add powdered sugar a tablespoon at a time.
  3. Dip your cooled donut bars into the glaze, allowing excess to drip off.
  4. Place the glazed donut bars on a wire rack set over parchment paper to allow the glaze to set.
  5. Let the glaze dry completely for a smooth, shiny finish.

Notes

  • For a slightly thinner glaze, add a little more milk. For a thicker glaze, add more powdered sugar.
  • Ensure your donut bars are completely cool before dipping to prevent the glaze from melting off.
  • The glaze will set to a hard, glassy finish.
