A quick and spicy Cajun-spiced tuna steak with a restaurant-style crust, perfect for a healthy dinner. Cook it on the grill, in a skillet, or in an air fryer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tuna steaks (6 oz each)
  • 1 tablespoon blackened seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Optional: Avocado-mango salsa for serving

Instructions

  1. Pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels.
  2. Rub both sides of the tuna steaks with blackened seasoning.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Sear the tuna steaks for 2-3 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer for your desired doneness. For an air fryer, cook at 400°F (200°C) for 4-6 minutes, flipping halfway.
  5. Let the tuna rest for a minute before serving.
  6. Serve with avocado-mango salsa if desired.

Notes

  • For medium-rare tuna, aim for an internal temperature of 115-120°F (46-49°C).
  • For medium tuna, aim for 125-130°F (52-54°C).
  • You can prepare a marinade for meal prep by combining blackened seasoning with a little oil and lemon juice, then marinating the tuna for 30 minutes before cooking.
  • This recipe is a great option for a healthy meal plan.
