Ingredients
Scale
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 cup milk
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1–2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
Gently fold in the melted butter and diced apples.
Drop spoonfuls of the batter onto the prepared baking sheet, about 2 tablespoons per fritter, leaving some space between them.
Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
While the fritters are baking, prepare the glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and 1-2 tablespoons of milk until smooth and pourable. Add more milk if needed to reach desired consistency.
Once the fritters are out of the oven and slightly cooled, drizzle the glaze over them.
Serve warm.
Notes
For a richer flavor, you can add a pinch of ground cloves to the dry ingredients.
Ensure your apples are diced into small, uniform pieces for even baking.
Adjust the amount of milk in the glaze to achieve your preferred thickness.
