A simple and delicious fruit cobbler featuring tart cranberries and sweet apples baked under a golden cobbler topping. Perfect for holidays or any fall gathering.

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cups sliced apples (about 2 large)
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch pie plate or a 2-quart baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, 1/2 cup of the granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the milk and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  5. In a separate bowl, toss the sliced apples and cranberries with the remaining 1/2 cup granulated sugar, water, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  6. Spoon the fruit mixture evenly over the batter.
  7. Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbly.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
  • This cobbler can be assembled ahead of time and baked just before serving. Cover and refrigerate for up to 24 hours.
  • For a deeper flavor, you can add a tablespoon of lemon juice to the fruit mixture.
