Ingredients
Scale
2 (1-inch thick) steaks (Ribeye or Sirloin recommended)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
Pat the steaks completely dry using paper towels. This step helps create a good crust.
In a small bowl, mix the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika for your best air fryer steak seasoning.
Rub the olive oil over both sides of the steaks, then evenly coat them with the seasoning mixture. Let the steaks rest at room temperature for 15 minutes.
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Place the seasoned steaks in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they do not touch.
Cook for 6 minutes, then flip the steaks. Continue cooking, checking the internal temperature for your desired doneness (see chart below). For medium-rare, aim for 130°F (54°C).
While the steaks finish cooking, prepare the garlic butter: Melt the butter in a small microwave-safe bowl. Stir in the minced garlic and chopped parsley.
Once cooked, immediately remove the steaks from the air fryer and place them on a cutting board. Brush the tops generously with the garlic butter.
Let the steaks rest for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing against the grain. This resting period is key for a juicy air fryer steak.
Notes
Use a meat thermometer for the most accurate results. For a perfect medium rare steak air fryer cook time is generally 10-12 minutes total for 1-inch steaks.
Doneness Temperature Guide (Remove steak 5°F before target temp to account for carryover cooking): Rare: 125°F (52°C); Medium-Rare: 130-135°F (54-57°C); Medium: 140-145°F (60-63°C).
This method works well for air fryer ribeye steak and sirloin steak air fryer preparations.
