Cook juicy, crispy shrimp fast in your air fryer. This recipe uses simple garlic and parmesan seasoning and works well with fresh or frozen shrimp for a quick weeknight meal or appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined (fresh or frozen, no thaw needed)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. If using frozen shrimp, place them directly into the air fryer basket without thawing. If using fresh shrimp, pat them dry with paper towels.
  2. In a medium bowl, toss the shrimp with olive oil, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  3. Place the seasoned shrimp in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if necessary.
  4. Air fry at 380°F (195°C) for 6 minutes.
  5. Carefully pull out the basket and shake it gently to flip the shrimp.
  6. Continue to air fry for another 3 to 5 minutes, or until the shrimp are pink and cooked through. Total cook time is usually 10-12 minutes for fresh, 13-15 minutes for frozen.
  7. Remove the shrimp from the air fryer. Immediately sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and toss to coat.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicy kick, add 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes to the seasoning mix.
  • If you prefer breaded shrimp, lightly dust the shrimp with flour, dip in egg white, then coat in Panko breadcrumbs before air frying. Adjust cook time up by 2-3 minutes.
  • This recipe is naturally low carb and keto shrimp air fryer friendly.
